Fundraiser Gala and Awards

The Buenanueva Foundation, Inc. will be celebrating its 21st Annual Fundraiser and Awards Presentation “Making a Difference Together” on Friday, November 14, 2008. The event will be held at the Omni Los Angeles Hotel at the California Plaza, starting at 6:00 PM.

David Shahriari, General Manager Omni Los Angeles Hotel will be honored with The Corporate Citizen Award which will be presented by Event Chair Gilbert Dalmau, President of the Americas United Bank. George Salmas from Salmas Law Group will be awarded with the Community Leader Award, for over 20 years of invaluable contributions and service, the award will be presented by Buenanueva Foundation’s Treasurer Orlando Ortega.

The celebration will commence with a champagne reception and silent auction animated by Mariachi Mexico. The dinner, program and dance will start at 7:30 p.m. The event’s Mistress of Ceremonies is Television Producer and Host, Christian J. Vera; the Angeles Girl Scout Troop 631 will lead the Color Guard; Monsignor Juan Matas will be presenting the Invocation and Esmeralda Garcia, Buenanueva program participant will interpret the National Anthem.

Entertainment will be provided by the well-known stand-up comedian Momo Rodriguez, with musical performance by Chino Espinoza y Los Dueños Del Son; professional dancers Ash and Edd will lead the dance.

Kiara Ovalle and Linda Trejo, Buenanueva programs’ participants will share their testimonies and the Superintendents from the Montebello and Rowland Unified School Districts, Edward Velazquez and Dr. Maria G. Ott will be giving testimony of the services offered By Buenanueva Foundation, Inc. to the expectant and parenting teens enrolled in their schools.

The Buenanueva Foundation, Inc. a 501 (c)(3) nonprofit organization was established in 1980 to improve the quality of life in the community by helping children and their families in Los Angeles County develop into healthy, productive citizens. The assistance offered by the Buenanueva Foundation, Inc. programs is providing the teen parents from the cities of Bell Gardens, City of Industry, Commerce, East Los Angeles, La Puente, Montebello, Monterey Park, Pico Rivera, Rowland Heights, Walnut, and West Covina with the community support, adequate child care and education that allow them to be more resilient and overcome the tremendous impact of too early childbearing on their educational, social and economic lives and the lives of their children.

The mission of the organization is to help young people in need develop into respected, self-dependent and productive members of our communities by supporting and implementing teen pregnancy prevention with mentoring, educational assistance, and childcare programs.
