
Definitely, Americans have become addicted to email. Are you one of them? If you are, you are not alone. 62% of people check work email on the weekends, and 59% check email from the bathroom, up from 53% last year.
AOL Mail, in partnership with Beta Research, conducted an online email addiction survey of 4,000 e-mail users.
Here are some findings:
- 62% of people check work email on the weekends
- 19% choose vacation spots with access to email
- 55% of mobile email users upgraded to a new phone just to get email
- 59% check email from the bathroom
People today check their email:
- In bed in their pajamas: 67%
- From the bathroom: 59%
- While driving: 50%
- In a bar or club: 39%
- In a business meeting: 38%
- During happy hour: 34%
- While on a date: 25%
- From church: 15%
Of those surveyed, 60% said they've never gone more than 5 days without
checking e-mail and 17% can't go more than one day without e-mail. They're
so hooked that 11% have even hidden the fact that they're checking email
from a spouse or family member.
